Rainy reverie
A small village within the big city. In this much-loved neighbourhood of London, cherished by locals and visitors from all over the world—Notting Hill—there lies a street with colourful façades like a flowerbed ruled by roses, like a fruit basket crowned by a mandarin. Welcome to Portobello Road. It greets its first passers-by. The reflection of a soft sky in the windows of antique shops announces the rain like a guest, welcomed by the harmony of the tarmac. Sightseeing in the rain. All seasons, all eras, all senses meet here, for the delight of curious and artistic minds. It's market day, and the produce, the flowers too, add to the warmth, the beauty, the sharing. A breath of countryside floats over this place with its free-spirited soul, adorned perhaps with green leaves, myrtle and clary sage. It’s always a pleasure to wander here, between two stalls, wrapped in a memory of vetiver, of patchouli, in search of a vision, a glance, an emotion.
