Silken Oud
Long ago, a small grocer’s shop, a saffron accord, became a majestic store frequented by all of London. Nothing is impossible when dreams are grand, especially at Harrods. Omnia Omnibus Ubique. “Everything, for everyone, everywhere” has become its mantra, its guiding key since its inception. A motto that now takes root, like iris butter, within a fragrance. Here it blossoms as jasmine would, soon flowering upon a bottle, thanks to the talent of British designer and artist Giles Deacon, who conceived its botanical motif. A stem sways, the leaves move with gentle grace, green like the awning that stretches along Brompton Road. Its phosphorescent hue glows like the façade at nightfall, a vanilla light set against sandalwood and Akigalawood. Slightly vintage, with an Art Deco touch, it echoes elements of the London store’s interior design. With a single spray, the bustling city fades away, giving way to a soft, refined, harmonious cocoon, where an oud accord blazes, carried by cypriol essence, elegantly woody, leathery and smoky. In the air, benzoin and musk lend the space a precious dimension. Omnia Omnibus Ubique wears on the skin like eternity in the present moment.
